Vinyl Plank Flooring Tips and Tricks
Nice video
Just about every lvp manufacturer tells you specifically not to use a hard plastic laminate tapping block. This poor guy barely knows what he is doing. He's not even racking out his flooring before he installed. Not only are tapping blocks like that a waste of money they destroy flooring. Snapping click vinyl plank is supposed to be installed without even needing a hammer In most cases. I've been doing flooring for 29 years and was Union trained
High quality video. Nice work!
Sheet vinager repair
It's just a basement someone did it from church probably,
No the contractor doing the job hired these painters
Could you do an in-depth video on the best way to install shoe?
Yes
Thank you, God bless you and your family. Palermo's from Chicago.
Thank you
Beautiful. This gives me the courage to fix a plank that has been driving me crazy.
Awesome good luck with it. I hope it turns out well.
That looks great! Awesome tip about the latex, too, thanks!
😀👍
Buddy, you just blew my mind!! Thank-you, I just hope the wear layer will be as easy to peel as yours. Cheers.
Outstanding.... Just what I needed. Thanks!!
Awesome
I was just quoted 7k to fix my bathroom floor. I need help
Alright, I used your video and replaced 4 vinyl planks that had a deep scratch from when my son moved a steel based chair. It looks amazing. Now I do have a question just today I had to tighten up gaps in the kitchen approx. 4 foot square area looked like a jig saw puzzle crooked from movement. The floor is 8 years old not happy with vinyl. However, by the time I was able to get the area back to new looking the last row I had to replace 2 planks since no matter what I did they would not move. At the end of it all I have a gap along the length of the planks approx 1/8 inch. What can I use to fill this gap the planks are a dark oak/brown Torlay color - Avalon and of course no longer able to purchase. Lucky I had 3 boxes left over. Can you recommend a gap filler - watched a lot on RUclips but not great results by most. Regards and Thank you fro the vid again.
The Roberts filler from Home Depot works pretty well as long as your gaps are not too wide
How would you do the same for a situation where the already laid floor is perpendicular to the opening and you want to run the next room in the other direction? Namely a "T" joint. I guess the real question is how would you cut the plank ends to be even with the new full length piece? and then do the glue trick.
There is no way a pro would even put that down over carpet glue😳 that’s genuine church cheapness. Pinching pennies when God has all the silver and all the Gold!
The painters really messed this job up. It wasn’t a pennypinching church. They are actually having something done about all of it.
You are awesome. Thanks for the video.
Not knowing the situation....just a question.... was this a professional? Did the church go with the lowest bid? Was this discussed before the installation? I wouldn't be so quick to cast blame before the facts come out. Let's hear what the story was.
Contractor hired out the painters and now he is working out money to Replace Carpet and have this painted floor covered with vinyl plank.
What is glue work for click together vinyl plank on stairs if not what glue would be best use plenty of blue before different brands but it just doesn't stick like I wanted to film in the back of the planks
its the dont care just get it done... hahaha
Yep, that’s exactly what it was
What a shame! Would have been a nice job if they had taken the time to properly prepare the concrete floor.
Yup
Tell me it was someone from the church and not a 'professional'
It was a professional painting crew
@@FloorsbySouthernboys they are far from professional
How do you fix wrinkles/bubbles in a perimeter felt back sheet vinyl congolum product it wasn't rolled with the wear layer out or tubed I heard about heat socking it with a hair dryer and then apply a tray of ice to the wrinkle to thermal shock it have you got any other ideas if that doesn't work
That probably will not work because that remedy is for interflex vinyl which they do not make anymore . It is probably cut too tight around the perimeter and needs to be re-cut to have expansion room.
I was told by the congolum tech it's because the roll wasn't rolled with the wear layer out but with the bottom felt back out with will cause it to wrinkle it's not cut tight to the walls there is an expansion gap what about injecting glue
great video right to the point 🤓
Awesome
How does it do when you swoop the iron out at the end?
Bad camera work with the tuck and tap down
That tile job…..Yikes..😬😬😬
😂👍
Greetings. Good grief. That's a shame. I just had electrical work done in my home and a day later I discovered two impact gashes in my laminate flooring - my assumption is, the technicians dropped something very heavy. I don't love laminate flooring, but that is all I have till I can replace it, but in the mean time, do you have any suggestions how to repair laminate gashes instead of replacing the whole planks? I'd sure love to see a video post of that if you do.
Did you have to get a special blade for your tabke saw or just use a standard 24 tooth?
So how much would you charge per step if I were to take this method
$200 per step. If the riser needs to be built out, it would be 225 per step.
@@FloorsbySouthernboys when doing vinyl plank stairs is it best to cut off the bull nose to the original tread or keep it on and build out
I love your passion for craftsmanship. Quick question though. If I lay base before carpet install, what space should be under the baseboard and what distance from said pre-installed base should I place my tack strip?
I am in the middle of a room remodel in my house and was debating whether I sbould lay new carpet and then install baseboard over top. If I take old carpet out and install baseboard, how much room should I leave under the baseboard to then lay carpet after base install? Going to be using a more plush carpet as it is a bedroom. Thanks.
That carpet I’ve had to double tackstrip everything. Or it likes to wrinkle on all the edges later on
great use for that situation nice
Thank you, sir
Awsome work
Thank you, my friend
Best video I have seen on replacing bad planks and instructions were done perfect - thank you
You are welcome, my friend. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Way to hard , roll back double cut, and seam seal , roll! How can you make any money at that way to long
I make money because my jobs are done correct and the last. That’s why I get these jobs and that’s why all of my clients call me back for future work or refer me.
Ultimate blade on a scrapper. Lasts for years and does the whole steps in seconds.
Can you put this down over slight damp concrete?
Yes
Nice work!
Yeah, it’s pretty crazy how many installers will seam the doorways before even a single stretch. The problem with that is if you properly stretch the carpet afterwards, you will definitely get bubbles in the carpet everywhere. That’s why those who do so don’t get a good stretch on the carpet and wrinkles appear within a few months.
If you fold carpet back and measure at each end of hall as long as there the same measurements should be good that’s what I do but good job anyway
Yup
I also use the ol tapperoo technique glad to see it being shown to the public and not being hid away in the vaults of flooring guild..great instructional program would recommend to my friends
Awesome thank you
I get what your doing, I do the same with prints. But wouldn't of been quicker with the same results by just staying off the doorways row cutting each one separate. Then buring the doorway? looks like the bedrooms are straight drops with plenty of wiggle room to move the carpet around to line up the seams.
Yeah, but you’re still gonna get the hallway straight or the bedrooms could run off.
@FloorsbySouthernboys but on that type of carpet what difference does it make? Around here, houses are not square at all. Many have been added on two or three times by the owners and friends and are way out of square. How is being square with this type of carpet going to add to the quality or the life of the carpet?
@@chrissheafer yeah I get you, it ain’t gonna add to the quality of the life for sure what I was referring to is it running off of the wall and being short. But nonetheless, I just feel better if stuff is at least fairly straight. I couldn’t put a room of carpet in with one corner flush and 6 inches up the wall on the other end of the room. I just could not stand that it would drive me bonkers, lol
👍🏻
😀👍
I just found me a new carpet dad
😂😂
I wish you could name every tool you just used
Row finder, row cutter, commercial grade seam sealer, seeming iron, seam roller and a Seamer Down Now
Very smart to run the row down the middle so your doors are straight and you can run a row on those. Hopefully you’re getting paid well because we both know this takes twice as much time as straight edging and tracing with top cutter
Yep, this little house paid me $2,646.20 but like you said, it took me two days to do it
Watching someone as picky and perfectionist as me is very therapeutic! Some guys just don't get the small details make the biggest difference.
You are exactly right a good job is in every little bitty thing about the job not just the big thing about the job. All of the little things. Add up to be a great job.
Doing that thing like a pattern lol, pretty serious work for a cut pile, nice
I always do it like that so I can keep everything row cut and I don’t have to straight edge anything
Yeah doorways are the only thing I cheat on sometimes, I'll row one side and straight edge the other
@@jonathancowdin3775 a lot of people do that
